Although some individual differences surfaced, the deaf and hard of hearing Latino youth participants in this study were similar in that they included cultural values as an important aspect of a good quality of life for an individual who is deaf or hard of hearing and Latino. Recurrent themes that emerged as particular contributions to quality of life among these young people from Spanish-speaking families included communication access to social participation at large family gatherings; knowledge of Spanish; and family visits to Mexico (see Table 2).
